If ever there was a time to invest in a new handbag, fall is it. This season, in particular, has brought with it an exceptionally fab crop of wishlist-worthy bags. From mini-size bucket bags (such a good price!) and drawstring pouches to classic totes and crossbody carry-alls, there’s no shortage of options. With that said, a handbag is only as good as it is functional. Before I purchase a new handbag, I always try to determine what void needs to be filled – whether it’s a travel-friendly tote or a statement-making clutch. This step ensures a smarter, no-regrets purchase. This season, I was after something I could carry all-day, everyday – something that would work during the day, but that I could also carry to dinner or a cocktail party. Another important element: no black and no brown. I have plenty of neutral options so I really wanted a standout color. The winner? J.W. Anderson’s mini “Pierce” bag. It checks all my boxes. The size is ideal: large enough to hold my keys, iPhone, and other daily essentials, but still small enough that it’s an elegant option for a dinner date. I wear it as a crossbody most of the time, but the chain is detachable so I can easily carry it as a clutch when I want to. Best part? The color! Even though I was tempted to go with black, I stuck with my original plan and opted for this happy shade of tomato red. Win, win, win.
