WHAT I READ, WATCHED, AND LISTENED TO LAST MONTH

Very rarely does the book I’m reading have anything to do with what I’m watching on TV or listening to in my car. Last month, that wasn’t the case. With the exception of one show, you’ll see that there’s a very distinct theme here: Princess Diana.

Below, a list of everything I watched, read, and listened to last month.

READ //

If you’ve been following me on Instagram then you know that ever since finishing Season 4 of The Crown, I’ve been on a major Princess Diana kick. There are a number of biographies on Princess Diana and upon the recommendation of a friend, I decided to pick up Andrew Morton’s Diana: Her True Story – In Her Own Words. The fact that Diana actually took part in this biography (it’s written using secret tape recordings from Diana herself) gives it credibility and hooked me from the beginning. Though a little disjointed at times, I found it totally fascinating.

(Note: I also listened to the audiobook version of Tina Brown’s The Diana Chronicles. It’s really good. I love Tina Brown’s writing and always find her so witty and insightful. If I had to choose, I would say that I prefer this book over Morton’s.)

I did deviate from Diana at the end of the month with It Ends With Us. I like to balance out my non-fiction books with a good romantic beach read. This one totally fit the bill. I finished it within three nights.

WATCH //

In addition to Season Four of The Crown (and The Bachelor, obviously, because I just can’t quit it), I became totally hooked on Your Honor. It’s a Showtime series that centers around a highly-respected judge (played by Bryan Cranston, whom I love) whose son is involved in a hit-and-run. Though it’s really dark and quite anxiety-inducing, it’s really, really good. I highly recommend it if you need a show to binge.

LISTEN //

Podcast topic of choice? Princess Diana, of course. (When I do a deep dive, I do a really deep dive.) After posting that I was reading the Diana biography, I received a number of messages from followers suggesting I listen to the podcast called You’re Wrong About. Hosted by two journalists, the podcast explores past media events and people (think: The O.J. Simpson trial, Tonya Harding, etc.) that may have been misunderstood by the public. After listening to their exploration on Diana (multiple episodes and so good), I started listening to the other episodes. I’m now a big fan.
