Gucci velvet mules // Luella & June

GRLFRND Jacket // SIMON MILLER Tee // FRAME Jeans // GUCCI Loafers // CHANEL Nail Polish in “Espadrilles”

Is it just me or are winter layers starting to feel tired? I’ve loved getting to throw on my favorite coats and wearing this cozy sweater on repeat but now, I’m over it. I’m ready for warm weather and the easy-breezy outfits that come with it. Until then, I’m relying on my favorite basics (read: a lot of black) as a daily uniform. This routine has made me realize that while I might not be able to fully shed all of my winter layers just yet, I can at least do a little closet refreshing in the form of upgrading those basics.

I made a list of items and started my search. (Nordstrom makes it so easy to do a detailed search by filter so I managed to fill my cart in no time.) I added several new favorites to the mix including a couple of new pairs of jeans (these and these), a fresh selection of tees and blouses with interesting details like this one with the bow, and a go-with-everything skirt (obsessed with the high-waist style!), to name just a few. It’s all about taking stock of those items in my closet that get the most wear and figuring out how to put a fresh spin on a much-loved style. This brings me to my Gucci loafers. They definitely make the short list when it comes to favorites. They’re a classic style, and I love the way they look in velvet – especially red velvet! I’ve gotten so much wear out of these (believe it or not: they’re one of the most comfortable pairs of flats I own), making them well worth the splurge. With that in mind, I’m thinking a second pair for spring wouldn’t be such a bad idea. I could go for the same ones in a new hue (pink, blue, or the happiest shade of yellow!) or skip those and opt for a pair of the mules instead. Which ones would you choose?
