Whenever August rolls around, the urge to shop for fall starts to kick in. While I’m definitely enjoying all of the breezy dresses and throw-on-and-go sandals that I’ve been wearing, I’m also really looking forward to the return of cozy layers (this sweater!) and boots. With that in mind, I’ve made a list of a few investment-worthy fall favorites. Here, what I’m eyeing – and buying! – for the new season.
- Stella McCartney Heart Denim – Blue jeans are a year-round favorite, of course, but a new season is a good excuse to update my collection with a new pair or two. I’m pretty much set with the basics (these skinnies along with several pairs with more of a relaxed fit) so a novelty pair was just what I was after. Stella McCartney’s heart-patch denim is so good. Not only do I love the fit (high-rise and no stretch), but the patches add such a fun and sweet touch.
- Acne Leather Skirt – While I may not wear it as much as my leather pants, a leather skirt is still something worth the investment. I’ve had a difficult time finding one I really love (read: not a pencil-skirt and not a mini), but I think this wrap-style might be the ticket. (I always find the coolest stuff in the Nordstrom’s SPACE section.) The length is perfect, and I love the tie detail. It’s feminine, but still edgy.
- Gucci Loafer Mules – The loafer mule trend is here to stay, and there’s no pair more classic than these. They’re the ultimate slip-on, making them ideal for all-day wear. They come in several buttery-leather colors and even though the black is perhaps the most versatile, it’s the red pair that has landed at the top of my wish-list.
- Veronica Beard Scuba Jacket – Texas is notorious for its in-between weather – too warm for a coat, but cool enough to need a layer. This is where having a stash of blazers is key. They’re the perfect layer for this kind of climate. My favorites always come from Veronica Beard. Their “scuba” style is the one I’m eyeing. I love the light, sort-of stretchy material. It’s sporty-chic.
