You’d think that after two full weeks of “muted colors only” while in Africa that I would be piling on the brights right now – but not so much. The truth is the majority of my summer favorites are a mix of neutral shades like bright white, cream, and tan. They’re my warm-weather neutrals. They make for a foolproof approach to summer dressing. What I love about a neutral palette is the way they look when mixed together – think: a simple white tee or button-down shirt paired with my favorite cream-colored jeans from Khaite. The key to making the mix work is by adding in different textures. It creates dimension and gives the look a finishing touch. The easiest way to do this is with accessories like a straw bag or a pair of leather sandals (under $100!) in the perfect shade of tan. The overall result is fresh, clean, and super simple – exactly what I’m after in a summer look.
