STYLE NOTES: LOULOU BAKER

Style Notes is back – and with a whole new look! This was always one of my favorite series on Luella & June. I’m so fortunate to be able to connect with so many amazing, creative females – from authors to small business owners to writers. I’m constantly surrounded by women who inspire me. Style Notes will allow me to share each and every one of these fascinating women with you.

I’m thrilled to kick off the return of the series with the oh-so talented Laura “Loulou” Baker. You’ve no doubt seen Loulou’s work appear on Luella & June more than a few times. Loulou is the Creative Director and founder of Peep’s Paper Products – a luxury paper company that specializes in wedding invitations (her custom crests are a favorite for brides!), stationery, and more. (Did I mention she’s also a mom? Yep. Mother, artist, and small business owner. Impressive, right?) A graduate of the San Francisco Art Institute, Loulou has taken her love of art and combined it with her background in fashion (she worked for several design houses including Narciso Rodriguez and Moschino) to create what is truly one of the most unique, beautiful paper offerings out there. I first discovered Loulou on Moda Operandi (where else?!) when I purchased a deck of cards that I intended to give as a gift but loved it so much that I decided to keep it for myself. What I love most about Loulou’s whimsical illustrations is that each and every one – whether custom or not – feels personal and more special than the next. Of course, her answers to the Style Notes questionnaire below only made me fall more in love with this talented designer. I’m certain you all will feel the same way.
