When it comes to my daily “uniform,” the button-down shirt plays a key role. Whether white, light blue or striped, it’s my go-to shirt on a daily basis. This spring, however, my favorite basic is getting a bit of a reboot, thanks to interesting details like balloon sleeves, ruffles, bows (love this one) and more. My newest Acler top (also available in white) is a perfect example of what I’m talking about here. It’s basically a reimagined version of the classic button-down. I love the one-sided, off-the-shoulder neckline, and the collar-like folds add such an artful detail. I’ve worn it with everything from blue jeans to these cropped leather pants. I also think it would be perfect with a pencil skirt for the office, too. That’s the best part about these statement button-downs, they’re just as wearable as their more basic versions – albeit a little more interesting!
I’ve come across some really fab options for these reworked shirts. Sandy Liang has some really great ones – including this one and this one. (If you’re in Dallas, TTH and Forty Five Ten carry the line.) The ruffles add such a feminine frill! And speaking of ruffles, I love Self-Portrait’s striped style and then there’s this one from Clu. How perfect with white denim this summer! I’ve also been eyeing this one from Tibi. Between the wrap ties at the sleeves and that contrast bustier, it’s too good! If you’re into bows, take a look at this one, this one and this one.
