The month of September is always busy but this one has felt especially fast and furious. (How is it already the third week of September?) After traveling for the last two weeks, I’m thrilled to be home and anxious to return to a normal routine. With the official start of fall just days away, it feels like the perfect time for a fresh start. While I’m more than ready to start wearing all of the fall things (this super cozy sweater and my new plaid pants), the Texas heat is telling me, not so fast. The 90-degree temperatures are forcing me to press pause on the idea of throwing on my new J.Crew coat, but the silver lining is that it gives me a little bit more time to to get a few more wears out of my favorite warm-weather dresses like this one from LHD. This silky number was an end-of-summer buy for me – but if you knew how many times I’ve worn it, you’d think I’d had since the beginning of June. The shirt-dress style makes it an ideal throw-on-and-go piece. It can easily be dressed up or down, lending itself to both day- and nighttime wear. (Bonus: I also wore it over a swimsuit for lunch by the pool a couple of times.) And then there’s that fabulous print. I’ve never seen anything quite so playful. (It also comes with a slip layer that features an equally fabulous print!) It reminds me of a sunny day on the French Riviera. If that’s not the perfect dress to soak up the last remaining bits of summer then I don’t know what is.
While this dress may be headed into hibernation sooner than later, punched-up prints are here to stay. For fall, I’m coveting animal prints. Leopard is the obvious frontrunner here and will pop up in my fall looks in the form of coats like this one (also love this one!), this pencil skirt, and lots of accessories like these mules and this belt. The other animal print I’m really loving right now is tiger. I already ordered these flats but now, I’m also eyeing this tiger coat. You all know how much I love a stripe and for fall, tiger is it.
