If your calendars look anything like mine then your weekends are filled with at least one of the following: rehearsal dinner, baby shower, bridal shower, engagement party, wedding, etc. ‘Tis the season! In the case of last weekend, I actually hit on three of those things – and two of them fell on the same night. In the case of back-to-back parties, with completely different vibes (the first was a casual get-together on a patio and the second, a cocktail party) and no time to change in between the two, the question is always what to wear.
I needed a dress that would work for both – one that walked the line between casual and dressy. Oh. And color was key. Since one of the parties was an engagement party, wearing white (this!) was not an option. The answer? This dress. It’s easy and breezy enough for something casual, but can be dressed up in a snap. The only switch I had to make was my shoes. For the first party, I wore these lace-up sandals and then as I was on my way to the cocktail party, I simply switched those out for these fancy pearl slides (obsessed!) from Tory Burch. Done and done.
I did a little digging and found a few other long dresses with the same dress-it-up-dress-it-down vibe, including this one from J.Crew, this off-the-shoulder white one, Mara Hoffman’s lace-up dress (also love this one from her), this one from Tanya Taylor, a cherry-red option from Delfina, a Rhode Resort wrap dress, and this adorable pink one from Lisa Marie Fernandez.
