Until about a year ago, I owned only one bodysuit and it was one that came from of an old Halloween costume. (If you’re wondering, it was a Sandy from Grease costume.) Take a look at my closet today and you’ll find at least five (maybe six?) of them. The one-piece wonders are good for so many reasons but mainly because they simplify the process of getting dressed. Not only are they necessary for smooth layering (no more bunched-up lines underneath my jackets!), but they’re essentially a functional and super chic alternative to a t-shirt. The one-shoulder one (on sale!) I’m wearing here is from Alix. It’s become of my most-worn items in my closet over the past month. (I love it so much, in fact, that I also bought it in white and am now seriously considering getting the olive-green.) Not only is it an easy go-to with denim (I love it with a high-waisted pair!), but it’s also a great top option if you’re wearing a fitted skirt.
There’s so many different styles of bodysuits out there right now. For fall and winter, I was partial to the long-sleeve styles (especially this turtleneck one!). They became my go-to for layering underneath sweaters and jackets. For summer, the assortment gets even better. I’ve added a couple of basics, including this tank and this short-sleeve striped one that I’ve been wearing a lot with white jeans. This sleeveless style ($68!) is another new addition to my closet. That little ruffle is all it needed to make it a not-so-basic basic. For those looking for a bodysuit alternative to their white button-down, check out this bell-sleeve one. I also love all of the off-the-shoulder options right now, including this one and this one. Like I said, lots of options!
