January has always been my least favorite month of the year. Even as a kid, I was never a fan. There’s just something so…blah about it. It has a certain loneliness to it, you know? The fact that it falls immediately after the holidays has something to do with it. It just always feels like such a let down after all of those fun festivities. And then there’s the weather. Cold and grey. Blah. Does anyone else get a case of the January blues? Am I the only Debbie Downer here?
The good news is that it doesn’t last forever (nine days to go!) and this gives me plenty of time to think about all of the things I have to look forward to in February. The list is long – and happy! – and includes Valentine’s Day (Yes. I’m one of those people.), several birthday parties, a wedding, and, at the end of the month, a weekend getaway! I’m feeling lighter and brighter already.
My birthday is in January and I think that’s the only thing that keeps me going, that and the fresh start a new year feels like it should bring. But even with all of this, it feels exhausting to get through January. It does feel like a very long month.

We want to see the new bob 🙂
I go someplace cold every January (usually NYC) and revel in real winter. I don’t get the winter blues but I do love a chilly getaway to jumpstart after the holidays.
I get the blahs in late July/early August when I realize we have 3+ more months of Texas heat.
Learn how to ski! Then you will always look forward to January and love it!
