If there’s one product I continue to hear about over and over, it’s primers. Along with daily SPF (I use this and love it), primers are one product that beauty experts and makeup artists swear by as the key to flawless-looking skin. They’re said to blur wrinkles, minimize the appearance pores, and even out skin tone, among other things. They sound kind of magical, don’t they? So why haven’t I have been using one? Good question. As someone that really doesn’t wear that much makeup (more due to a lack of knowledge on how to apply it correctly and not for lack of trying), a primer just seemed like an extra step to me – and not really an important one. I was wrong. It is kind of a magical product.
After hearing all the primer-praise I could handle, I decided to give it a try myself. Since I’m very loyal to Laura Mercier’s tinted moisturizer (another magical product, if you ask me), I decided to give her primer go, too. There are several primer options there: regular, hydrating, oil-free and radiance. They all do basically the same thing so it’s just a matter of skin-type and personal preference. I opted for the radiance primer. The nice lady at the Laura Mercier counter told me that it gives a subtle glow to the skin. Sold. After a couple of weeks of trying this stuff out, I can attest that her claims were true. It really does give my skin a slightly dewy look. It also really smooths things out along with hiding some of that redness around my nose I can’t seem to get rid of. Magical. You could say I’m hooked. The best part? The radiance primer also comes in a 1 oz. size for traveling. I’ll never have to leave home without it.
