EMBROIDER IT… I’ve long been a fan of embroidery (how gorgeous are these dinner napkins?), but lately I’m finding myself loving it more than ever – especially when it’s hanging in my closet. It feels personal, you know? From simple tees to a classic pair of denim, embroidery is a tiny detail that can turn even the most basic of items into something super special. In addition to my white tee from Maison Labiche (love this striped one, too!), I also managed to scoop up one of these $39 cuties from Urban Outfitters. I’m also totally obsessed with the custom embroidery that Madewell offers. I’m planning to add my initials to this chambray shirt.
TECHNICAL ISSUES… Am I the only one who’s having trouble with their iPhone after the update? Mainly the alarm. You used to have to do the whole slide-across thing in order to get it to turn off. Now, all it takes is a simple tap and the alarm is off. That means it’s way easier to turn off and fall right back asleep. And that’s exactly what I’ve done. Three times this week. (Side note: does anyone have the new iPhone? Is it worth it? I’m considering an upgrade and would love to hear your thoughts.)
COOKING AND READING… On a recent trip to Anthro, I picked up this book on a whim and quickly found myself wanting to read every single page in detail. I left the store with it in hand (along with six of these) and have been reading through it ever since. Written by Audrey Hepburn’s son, Luca Dotti, the book tells the story of his mother’s life through food and recipes. It’s a perfect memoir-cookbook combo and a must-have for anyone that loves to cook and/or Audrey Hepburn.
NOT A FAN… Fact: I do not like Halloween. It’s my least favorite of all the holidays. As a child, I loved it. I would dress up as something different to every single Halloween function – a Disney princess for school, a ladybug for the after-school party, and then Sandy from Grease for trick-or-treating. I have no idea when I changed my mind about the holiday but it definitely happened. I do, however, enjoy the abundance of peanut butter M&Ms. Other than that, I’m ready for Thanksgiving.
TEARJERKER… If you haven’t already done so, I strongly recommend reading this article. Warning: it will almost certainly make you cry. It’s such a touching story about the special bonds we have with our dogs. After I finished wiping my own tears, I immediately found Lucy and gave her a big hug.
TREE TRIMMING… Can we fast forward to Christmas for just a second? Thanks. How cute are these piñata ornaments? That fringe! I think a tree full of these would be all kinds of fun. Not to mention, a set ($29) would also make a great holiday hostess gift.
ON MILEY CYRUS… Anyone else a fan of The Voice? If you’ve been watching this season then you already know that Miley Cyrus is one of the newest judges. I’m not going to lie: I was initially really bummed out about this. I’ve never been a big Miley fan and I was sort of worried that she might ruin my favorite Monday-night show. Well, I’m here to say that I was wrong. Way wrong. She’s totally exceeded my expectations, and in fact, she’s become one of my favorite judges on the show. While I don’t think she’s necessarily the most talented singer of the bunch, she’s certainly the most entertaining. I’m officially a Miley fan.
INSTAGRAM LOVE… I have no idea how I came to find As a Muse but I’m so glad I did. This Instagram account is pure genius. By combining runway images with works of art, each post highlights the direct relationship between fashion and the art world. It’s a treat for the eyes.
