LATELY

My Type-A personality lives and dies by a schedule. I thrive off of having a plan. When I see empty spaces on my calendar, my automatic instinct is to fill them. This article is making me think twice about that. I need to be more cognizant of not only not over-scheduling myself, but also letting free time be exactly that: free time. I feel this need to be “doing something productive” all the time. According to the article, it’s exactly that need that makes even leisure activities feel less fun. Bottom line: I need to allow for more flexibility and spontaneity. It’s a work in progress.

As I mentioned in this post, I’m currently in the process of “cleaning up” my skincare products. I’ve been trying lots of new non-toxic products. Some of them I already love (this deodorant and this toner) and others I do not. It’s total trial and error. I’ve found that making the big switch is a little tricky so I’m doing it in baby steps. I’ll do a more thorough post later, but for now, I’m curious if any of you have totally switched over to non-toxic beauty products. Any tips?

The newest skincare product I’ve added to my regimen is the much-talked-about Augustinus Bader cream. You never know if a product is going to live up to the hype but it’s my opinion that this one is the real deal. I’ve been using it for a couple of weeks now (which admittedly isn’t long enough to do a full review) but so far, I love it. There are two iterations: normal and rich. My skin tends to be on the drier side so I went with the latter. It’s the perfect weight (light but still substantial) to use day and night – not to mention, it works really well as a makeup primer. My skin looks slightly brighter and overall just feels smoother. If you’re interested in learning more about it, check out this article.

As much time as I spend writing emails, you’d think I’d completely forgotten about snail mail. However, that’s not the case at all. I love writing letters and do at least three or four times per week. With that in mind, it’s no surprise that things like these new Ellsworth Kelly stamps make me really happy.

While I’ve never been a big fan of RX Bars (I realize I’m in the minority here), their nut butters are a totally different story. I’m obsessed. My favorite one is definitely the Vanilla Almond Butter. I slather it on toast, use it in smoothies, and sometimes I just eat it straight out of the package. After going through so many of the snack packs, I’ve decided it’s time to graduate to the full-size jar.

I’ve been enjoying plenty of TV time lately. The most recent shows I’ve binged include The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel (it’s everything and more!), Fyre Festival, and You (ridiculous but couldn’t quit it either). I watched all of those shows on my own. None of them seemed to pique my husband’s interest. Finding a show we both equally enjoy is tricky. (It’s no fun watching a show with someone who isn’t as invested in it as you are, right?) In the past, there have been a handful of shows that have made both of our lists, including Breaking Bad, Friday Night Lights, and The Crown. While we anxiously await the return of The Crown, we need a new show. This brings me to my last question: what shows do you watch as a couple? I would love to know.
