PSA: If you have not yet seen A Star is Born, get yourself to the theatre now. It is one of the very best movies I’ve seen in a long time. In fact, I’m hoping to go see it again before it leaves the theatre – which is definitely saying something because I can’t remember the last time I loved a movie enough to go see it again in the movie theatre. I’ve also been listening to the soundtrack on repeat. It’s that good. Did you love the movie as much as I did? Leave your thoughts in the comments section.

I’ve long been a fan of Mansur Gavriel’s handbags (currently wishing for this one) but it wasn’t until earlier this year that I fell in love with their clothing, too. (I pretty much wore this sweater every single day in January and February.) Just like their handbags, every single item in their RTW collection has a timeless, wear-it-forever quality. My personal favorites from the collection (though I really love it all) are their coats and the knitwear. There are no less than seven items (including this and this) on my wish list at the moment. Winter is coming, after all.

In other shopping news: Shopbop is having a big sale today. And by “big,” I mean up to 70% off. So much new, too – even my favorite striped pants are on sale! My personal picks: thesethese, this, and this.

I’ve been thinking a lot about the difference between happiness and joy. Read this article and you’ll see that there’s a difference – and more importantly, why it matters. This is also the reason that the next book on my list to read is this one.

While I seem to have no problem remembering to buy things that I really don’t need (another pair of these jeans, for example), there are certain things like bras that I actually need to replace but for some reason I end up keeping way too long. (I had the same strapless bra for nine years. I’m not even kidding.)  Towels is another one of these things. I use them everyday but for some reason totally put off buying new ones. That’s about to change. I just discovered Weezie –  a new company started by two super cute gals focused on offering the best towels at the best prices. You have the option of several different trim colors (I love the light blue) and – bonus – you can easily customize the towels with your initials. I’m restocking my bathroom with their starter pack and adding a few of these makeup towels (genius) to my cart, too.

After using the same Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer for years (around seven, to be specific), I’ve finally switched it up. There was nothing wrong with the Laura Mercier one I had been using, I just felt an urge to try something new. So I did. On the recommendation from one of my favorite makeup artists, I bought Chantecaille’s “Just Skin” tinted moisturizer. I’ve been using it in the “Bliss” shade for a little over a month now and really love it. I only have to use a small amount (I actually mix it with a little bit of this primer) to get great coverage. I use this brush to apply it which I think makes a big difference in evening things out. If you’re looking to try something new, I highly recommend it.

I’ve always been one to write (never email!) thank-you notes but this woman’s thank-you note project has totally inspired me to take it up a notch. She’s writing one thank-you note every single day of this year. I love how she’s given each month a different theme on which to focus the thank-you’s. Not only is it a great exercise in expressing gratitude, but I also think it would force me to be more present, taking note of all the little things I’m grateful for each day.

Wise words.
