THE RUFFLE TOP THAT COMES IN ALL THE COLORS… I posted about this top about a month ago. It remains one of my favorite spring buys and one that I get asked about every single time I wear it. With that in mind, I’ve got some good news: it’s now available in several different colors/patterns, including black, light pink, and purple stripe. My favorite new color option is this red-and-blue check. I already bought it and plan on wearing it on the Fourth of July. How’s that for planning ahead?

A DIGITAL DETOX?… Between my iPhone and my computer, I spend a lot (read: a lot) of time starting at a screen. It’s basically my job to be plugged in 24-7 – which is exactly why the thought of being unplugged totally freaks me out. I sort of can’t imagine what it would be like to go screen-free. However, after reading this and listening to this, I’m convinced that’s exactly what I need to do. I need to put down my phone and, as the article suggests, “try and remember how to just ‘be.'” I need a digital detox. The question is, could I ever really do it? While I doubt I’d ever be able to handle the full four to six weeks that the article suggests, I think cutting back on screen time (no phones at dinner, setting a time limit for computer time) here and there would be a good place to start. Baby steps.

HOW TO HAVE A GOOD DAY… I read this last week and it’s stuck with me ever since. According to the article, there are three ingredients to having a good day: do something alone, do something with others, and do something meaningful. That’s it. Three simple tasks that I don’t complete nearly enough. Can you imagine if you checked all three of those boxes every single day? It really would be a good day. #Goals

FOR BEACHY WAVES… My blow dryer will most likely be sitting in a drawer for the next few months. (Not that it really gets used that much the rest of the year.) When the weather starts to warm up, I’m all about air-dried waves. I’ve long been a fan of Oribe’s beach wave spray (it’s good stuff!), but I think I’ve found something I like just as much and maybe even more: Captain Blankenship’s Sea Salt Mermaid Spray. Quite a name, right? I’ve been using it for a few weeks now and I’m happy to report that it’s the real deal. A few quick spritzes of the organic elixir followed by a little bit of hair scrunching and I’m on my way to carefree, just-came-from-the-beach locks. Consider it your summer savior.

BOOKMARK THIS… If you’ve been following Luella & June for awhile then you know that reading is one of my very favorite things in life. I love to read – and I love talking to others about reading. Enter Girls at Library. (Heard of it? Neither had I until last week.) It’s a website that features interviews and book recs from very cool women (Clare V. and Molly Young, to name just two) who are passionate about reading. The site kind of feels like my long-lost soul sister. (P.S. You can check out my current reads in the Book Club.)

BIG LITTLE LIES… Is anyone else as disappointed as I am that Big Little Lies is over? I’ll admit that I thought the first couple of episodes were a little slow but by the third episode, I was hooked. The book was a favorite of mine (it’s by far the best title from this author), and I really thought the miniseries lived up to its hype. But now, what? I’m sort of hoping this book-to-miniseries thing becomes a regular occurrence – especially if it involves Reese Witherspoon. We’ll see. In the meantime, I’ll be listening to the show’s soundtrack. If you haven’t done so already, download it now. It’s so good!

NOW, WHAT?… But really, what should I watch now? I’m headed to Paris this month and since I’m not an airplane sleeper, I’ll need something to watch on the eight-hour flight across the pond. Any suggestions?

THE END OF AN ERA… This week’s news of Jenna Lyons’ departure from J.Crew left me with mixed feelings. On one hand, I’m sad to see her go. She has done amazing things for the brand. She set new fashion rules (Sequins to the office? Sure. Neon as a neutral? You bet.) and pushed the envelope in all the right ways. On the flip side, I’m sort of excited – both for J.Crew and Lyons. J.Crew is a brand I feel like I really know and I’m eager (and maybe a little nervous, too) to see how it evolves. (Let’s just hope the cool collabs continue, ok?) I’m also really looking forward to seeing what’s next for Jenna Lyons. Whatever it is, I’ll definitely be following along.
