I’ve told you all time and time again that there’s one color I don’t wear: red. I love orange, and I definitely wear plenty of pink (I just pre-ordered this top), but red – not so much. (During the holidays, I usually opt for green or something sparkly.) But times they are a-changin’ because here I am sporting bright red from head-to-toe – down to my shoes and toenail polish!
I’m such a huge fan of Jonathan Simkhai (it’s hard not be when he’s making dresses that look like this and this) that when I saw this new two-piece combo, I just kind of fell in love with it and didn’t let the fact that it was red deter my purchase. It’s made from a textured stretch-knit that feels amazing on and, like all of his designs, fits like a glove. It was the trumpet-style skirt that really got me though. I just love the cut (it comes in a shorter version that’s equally adorable) and that it swings when you move. I’m not going to lie: I might have been tempted to purchase it in a different color had there been that option. However, I’m actually glad I didn’t have the choice because it’s forced me out of my no-red comfort zone. Who knows? This might be the beginning of a new-found love for the color.
