We received three invitations (all for the same weekend!) last night to holiday parties. I am sure that you all are in the same boat, too. (By the third week of December, I’m always a little partied-out. You too?) It was a good reminder that it’s time to stock up on my hostess gifts. I hate having to scramble at the last minute to get a gift. If I do that, the gift always ends up being something I’m not totally crazy about. To avoid that, I’m getting prepared early and having those gifts wrapped and ready.
Most of the items on this list are well under $100. Candles are always a good idea (this one smells heavenly), but my very favorite gift for the same price is the Mark & Graham cocktail napkins. A set of eight is just $59. I received a set last year and absolutely adore them. They come in a bunch of fun colors (mine are orange and pink), and you can monogram them free of charge. I think a monogram is such a thoughtful touch, and it’s usually something that the hostess wouldn’t buy for herself. Another easy – but terrific – gift is a new coffee table book. You all know how much I love those. I usually try to figure out what my hostess might be interested in and buy the book accordingly. This is the newest book to hit my radar that would work for just about any host or hostess. I also don’t always think it’s necessary to buy the hostess something for her home. It’s definitely the tradition, but I think if you know your hostess then get something for her. These Tory Burch earrings are classic, or a cozy pair of slippers for when she finally takes her heels off at the end of the night.
