Denim makes up a fairly significant portion of my closet. Besides the stacks of jeans in all different styles (skinny, cropped, boyfriend) and washes from Nordstrom, there’s the chambray shirts (I’m pretty sure I’ve had this one for at least 10 years), and, of course, a couple of denim jackets. Considering this fact, it’s a wonder how I avoided wearing denim-on-denim for so long. Growing up, head-to-toe denim was kind of a no-go. I used to steer clear of it but now, I’ve embraced the look head-on. In fact, it’s a regular part of my uniform – especially this time of year.
The trick to making double denim work is all in the mix. The good news is that this mix is an easy one to master, thanks to the filter options on Nordstrom. I can easily track down exactly what I’m looking for. I opt for contrasting shades of denim (think: this + these), along with playing around with different silhouettes like this boyfriend button-down with these skinny jeans. This time of year, I love to top off a denim-denim look with something just as classic, like a camel coat. It’s makes for a perfect finishing touch.
