When the weather is this hot (we’re looking at a string of days with triple-digit temperatures ahead), spending any time outside becomes less and less appealing. Five minutes outside the heavenly embrace of the A/C and I turn into a sweaty mess. (Side note: I’ve started using this powder on top of my primer to combat the shine that comes with the heat.) With that said, summer won’t last forever (can you believe today is August 1st?!) and I want to take advantage of all it has to offer before we blink and it’s fall.
This weekend, we did just that. We were able to soak in some of our summer favorites, including a date night that ended with a stop for concretes at our favorite custard spot. Since I knew we were going to be indoors for dinner (nobody wants to sweat while they eat), I abandoned the denim shorts and breezy coverups that I’ve been trying to pass as tops because they’re more heatwave-friendly and instead, opted for blue jeans and a shoulder-baring top. This dot-print top (love the blue version, too!) is a new favorite of mine from Caroline Constas. She designs some of the best off-the-shoulder styles. They’re so well-made and always perfectly tailored. I already have several of her designs in solids (this top in blue and this red dress) so this dotty print offers something a little different, something fun. The ruffle details along the collar and sleeves add a girly touch, too – which is perfect for date night!
By Sunday afternoon we were back to usual indoor antics: snacks and Netflix. We started a new HBO show called The Night Of. Has anyone watched it? We’re only one episode in but we’re already hooked!
