Remember this post from April? I talked about how much I love Dallas’ Cabana boutique. Guess what? Cabana now has a sister. Her name is Canary, and she’s fabulous. If Cabana is the beachy, Harbour Island-chic one, then Canary is the more refined and just-a-little-fancier little sister. The store just opened this week, and I had the pleasure of taking a look around. Just one quick glance and I knew it was worthy of a share on the blog.
First of all, the space itself is so gorgeous. Beautiful clothing needs a beautiful place to live, after all. Black-and-white striped floors (amazing) are accented by pops of bright yellow (obviously), pink, and gray. With a tufted yellow sofa and a brass coffee table piled with glossy tomes, the middle seating area (complete with a Nic Nicosia photograph) feels like a very chic, editor-friend’s living room. And don’t even get me started on those leopard-upholstered Parsons chairs. It doesn’t stop there. The dressing rooms are just as pretty, too. The walls are covered in a beautiful Christian Lacroix wallpaper, and each one has its own little yellow love seat. I would consider moving in.
Once you get past all of that goodness, you can start shopping. Canary carries a unique selection of designers. There’s a perfect mix of the well-knowns (Peter Pilotto) and never-heard-of-them-before designers (Crippen, English Weather, and Each x Other, to name just a few). Did I mention the store carries Marissa Webb? I did a little dance when I heard that good news. Each collection is so well-edited. You’ll find wardrobe basics like skinny jeans from Frame, Golden Goose sneakers, Nili Lotan‘s cozy cashmere sweaters, and lots o’ leather. But you’ll also be able to snag some fancier pieces, too. There’s a bejeweled blouse from Marissa Webb that would work for the office or a night on the town, and Pilotto’s printed dresses are screaming for a party.
It’s everything I love about Cabana – effortless and feminine – but just a little more jazzed up. The good news is that the sister stores are located just down the block from one another, making it easy to do a double shopping stop. That’s how I like it.
