When it comes to classic colors, blue ranks near the very tip-top. It works like black in that it’s an excellent neutral, easily paired with a variety of other colors. While blue is an easy go-to in the warmer months (I can’t wait to wear this to a spring wedding), it’s also a reliable standby for winter. There’s something very fresh about a color that matches the icy temperatures outside. (I’ve been eyeing this coat for awhile and this week’s cold front may have sealed the deal.) This time of year, I love the way a blue hue looks on everything from a cozy knit (cashmere and on sale, thank you) to a serious winter-warmer to a pair of wear-all-the-time ballet flats. I even love it on my nails. Whether perwinkle, chambray, or cerulean, a touch of this color is an easy way to brighten up winter’s dreary, grey days.
