I’m baaaack. Last week was a total blur. After a weekend getaway to Blackberry Farm (more on that later), I returned home a mountain of work and unanswered emails. Please excuse last week’s lack of posts. I’m still trying to climb out of this hole.
Needless to say, the majority of my days last week were spent inside, sitting right here at my desk for far too many hours. I did, however, have a few meetings that forced me out of the house and in turn gave me an excuse to wear my new gingham pants. (I ordered these on a whim and was pleasantly surprised when I found that they were the perfect fit.) After a string of cold and rainy days, these Bardot-inspired checks put an instant pep in my step. They also served as a good reminder that I can, in fact, wear gingham without looking like a picnic table. Gingham has long been a warm-weather favorite – but it has to be done just right. The good news is that there’s plenty of “just right” options for spring. For starters, there’s all kinds of tops with re-worked details like this one from Sandy Liang (love the bow ties), Facetasm’s ruffle tee, this fab bodysuit, and this one from Theory. Or go the opposite route and opt for a pair of pants (obsessed with these) or a skirt. As soon as warmer weather hits, I’m swapping out my pants for a pair of these shorts. If dresses are more your thing then check out this v-neck one (on sale), this feather-embellished style from No. 21, or, my favorite, this strapless style from Natasha Zinko. I also love any and all of Innika Choo’s easy-breezy pieces including this beach-ready dress. Finally, if there’s one place to add a check, it’s on a swimsuit. I love all of the fun gingham swim options right now – from bikinis like this one to super chic one-pieces like this one and this one.
