I’m normally not a big product junkie. When I find something I like, I stick with it. Lately, however, I’m trying to change things up. I don’t know if it has something to do with the beginning of a new year or maybe I just sort of feel like I’m in a beauty slump, but I’ve been testing and trying out all sorts of new products (you can check out my some of those here) lately. From new shampoos (this one is still my favorite tried-and-true) to “magic” moisturizers to styling tools, I’ve been giving my beauty drawer a re-work lately. Here, three of my current favorites.

Long’s “Brilliance” Hair Perfecting Oil: As someone who has had long hair for nearly ten years, I’ve learned that the key to pulling it off is keeping it healthy. And that requires a little work and the right products. I was thrilled to discover Long by Valery Joseph, a new-to-me line of haircare aimed specifically at those with long locks. Their big claim to fame is the Smart Keratin – a protein aimed specifically at split ends – in all of their products. I can’t speak for the shampoos or conditioners (yet) but the the Brilliance Oil is amazing stuff. It’s not greasy in the slightest, yet it somehow manages to add just the right amount of moisture to my hair. It takes just a few quick spritzes and my hair not only feels healthier – and softer! – but those pesky flyaways disappear, too. Did I mention it also makes my hair extra-shiny? It does.

Christophe Robin’s Cleansing Purifying Scrub with Sea Salt: Here’s another thing you should know about long hair: washing it is a task. It’s laborious. There’s no quick wash-dry-and-go with long hair. It takes time – which is why I rarely do it. I’m a twice-a-week (three at the most!) shampooer. That means I rely on a lot of dry shampoo and that when I do, in fact, wash it, it better be with good stuff. Initially, this sea salt scrub weirded me out. The sea salt made it seem like a product I should use on my body (which, now that I’m thinking about it, is actually not a bad idea at all), but after just one wash, I totally got it. This shampoo-scrub is amazing at targeting my greasy roots (you can thank the sea salt for that), but it also contains conditioning ingredients which moisturize my ends. It leaves my hair feeling exceptionally clean and extra fresh.

Aurelia’s Refine & Polish Miracle Balm: I’m a big believer in exfoliation when it comes to skincare. It keeps skin healthy and it’s really the only way to get the glowy complexion we all so desire. I’m also a big believer in two-for-one products. I love a good multi-use beauty buy and this “miracle balm” is one of them. It’s gentle enough to use it as a daily scrub (I use it in the shower while I let my hair mask soak in), but it’s also an amazing mask, too. I’ve been applying it once-a-week and leaving it on my skin for fifteen to twenty minutes before rinsing. My face feels smoother than it’s ever felt and there’s not a patch of the usual winter-induced dryness in sight.
