While the overall approach for summer beauty is very less-is-more, the truth is summer does require a bit of maintenance in the form of extra protection from all of that chlorine, salt water, and extra sun we’re exposed to this time of year. Along with a really good sunscreen (I’m loving this one right now) , consider these three products to be your newest summer essentials.
- JAMES READ Overnight Tan Sleep Mask Face – I’m always trying to keep my skin out of the sun but that doesn’t mean that I don’t enjoy the look of a sun-kissed glow. This lightweight cream goes on like a any other face mask. I apply it as a last step at night and by morning, my face looks refreshed with an ever-so-subtle tan. Easy as that! (Bonus: It doesn’t have a weird smell and it’s never caused any sort of breakouts on me.)
- PHILLIP KINGSLEY Swimcap – While I’m fairly diligent about protecting my skin during the summer, this isn’t always the case when it comes to my hair. This product from Phillip Kingsley makes doing so a little easier though. It’s basically SPF for your hair, protecting it from UV rays (this really helps keep color-treated hair from fading!) and the harsh effects of chlorine and salt water. I usually dampen my hair and then brush this stuff through. Once I’m out of the sun for the day, I wash and condition as usual.
- CHRISTOPHE ROBIN Purifying Scrub – My hair is exposed to a lot of extra stuff (read: so much dry shampoo and lots of this wave spray) in the summertime. With that being so, every so often I like to give it a mini-detox in the form of this scrub. I’ve been using it for years and it truly is one of my favorite products. It leaves my scalp feeling super clean and my locks, extra soft.
