With Memorial Day past us, it’s (un)officially summer. I’ve said it time and again but when it comes to a summer wardrobe, I like to keep it as easy and breezy as possible. That means plenty of white jeans, flat sandals, and on-the-go dresses. Banjanan is a new-to-me line that sums that last one up perfectly. Designed in Jaipur by Caroline Weller, it’s a small collection of exquisitely embroidered (this one!) and printed dresses and tunics. The designer takes pride in supporting the local textile community, and every single item in the collection is produced within a five-kilometer radius. I think “gypset” is the perfect way to describe the collection. They’re the kinds of things that get easily packed into suitcases and will carry you all summer long. I think this dress is my favorite. The rope spaghetti straps are a cool detail and, well, the red-white-and-blue pattern kind of makes it an obvious choice for the Fourth of July, don’t you think?
