trapeze dress1

I’ve always loved a dress with a little swing: fitted at the top but with an a-line that creates the perfect bell shape. I just love the way they move. They swoosh. (You know what I’m talking about here.) My new Cynthia Rowley trapeze dress swooshes. The designer’s take on this ’60s-inspired silhouette is a perfectly modern one. It has a simple design with minimal details, and the colorblock panel along the side adds just enough of a unique touch. It comes in four perfectly-chosen color options (the pink/tan combo was my next choice) and you can’t go wrong with any of them.  The bell-shape also means you can get away with a shorter hemline. I wore it last week with this pair of heels and didn’t feel like it was too short at all. (It also looked great with these flat sandals, too.) Here’s what else I love about it: it’s made in this bonded pique material (like a knit, but it doesn’t feel heavy in the slightest) which gives it some structure and makes it the most perfect traveling dress. Ever. It doesn’t wrinkle. It’s a good thing this is an ideal dancing dress because I’ll be packing it for many a destination wedding this summer.
