If you’ve been following me on IG then my love of monograms is no secret to you. I happily live by Reese Witherspoon’s “If it’s not moving, monogram it” mantra. From closet classics like my button-down shirts and carryall totes to tabletop favorites, my initials are all over the place. (I’m not going to lie: having the initials B.A.M. makes it especially fun.) There’s just something so timeless about a monogram. It adds a custom touch and can turn even the most basic of items (these jeans, for example) into something super special.
The good news is that the internet makes it really easy to add your initials (or your name, address, favorite word!…) to just about anything. Here, a quick list of my favorites.
In my opinion, the best things to monogram are the most simple. Case in point: my favorite button-down shirt. It’s a wardrobe staple of mine (I honestly wear it at least twice a week) and the initials on my pocket just add that little something. (Side note: I just ordered the chambray shirt with my initials in light pink embroidery and know that I will love it just as much.)
I have a thing for pajamas (lusting after these). I especially love the classic menswear-inspired pairs which can only be made better with personalized embroidery. While I’ve long lived in this pair from J.Crew, I recently came across this shop on Etsy that offers a similar style for less! They also have several embroidery options for fonts and colors. It would be a great shop for bridesmaid’s gifts, too!
I may not have a pool in my backyard but that hasn’t stopped me from adding my initials to one of these striped beach towels. It comes in very handy on weekend trips this time of year, and it’s a great gift idea for a summer hostess.
My L.L. Bean bag will forever be a favorite, but lately I’ve been giving my old boat ‘n’ tote a rest in favor of a new one from Parker Thatch. I originally bought one as a gift for a friend but loved it so much when it arrived that I ordered one for myself (you know how it goes). These canvas totes are not only super durable, but their large size means they can handle a heavy load. Plus, I just really love the cute illustrations (the monkey!) and fun colors.
When it comes to jewelry classics, signet rings rank near the very top. It’s a never-take-it-off kind of piece that only gets better with time. The very same thing can be said of this sweet necklace, too.
I’ve long been a fan of Jennifer Meyer’s designs and her letter bracelet is near the top of my wish list (I hope the Birthday Fairy is listening). I appreciate its simplicity and the diamond initial takes it to another level of special.
The pouch/clutch is an accessory workhorse and Clare V. makes some of the very best. I’m obsessed with the flat clutch in the red/blue stripe option. It’s a timeless piece and adding initials in gold only makes it more classic.
There are two things I love about J.Crew swimwear: the ability to mix and match so many different tops and bottoms and that you can add your monogram. It’s a subtle details that’s totally unexpected.
Ok. So you can’t exactly wear these but they’re so good that they’re worth including here. Thanks to Mark & Graham, you can basically monogram everything in your house. I love their barware and I’ve purchased many-a-housewarming gift (usually one of these) from the site. However, it’s their table linens that I love the most. I have a set of these dinner napkins in blue and use them all the time. They’re simple enough for casual weeknight meals, but I also use them for fancy dinner parties, too. Bonus: they’re a great price ($60 for a set of four) and super easy to wash.
