I’ve spent more time on an airplane this month than I have in a long time. While I very much enjoy traveling, doing back-to-back trips like that can really stress me out. I like a routine and it’s difficult to maintain one when you spend that much time away from home. And then there’s the packing. There’s a significant amount of effort that goes into packing and re-packing a suitcase. All of my destinations were very different from one another (a college graduation one weekend and a bachelorette in Palm Springs the next) so the inside of my suitcase never looked the same. However, there were a handful of items – four, to be exact – that, regardless of destination, made their way into my suitcase for every single trip. They were this month’s version of a travel uniform – and, now, official closet favorites.
- Khaite Jeans – While a pair of blue jeans is a fairly standard item for most people to pack, Khaite’s denim styles are unique in that they’re non-stretchy. This is key when it comes to getting the most wear out of one pair of denim. These jeans retain their shape even after several wears. I love them so much I bought them in a second color.
- Veronica Beard Shirt Dress – Believe it or not: this dress has been packed in my suitcase for every single trip this month. It’s rare that a dress can work multi-purpose like that but this one does it. I wore it with sandals for running around town during the day and that evening, simply switched out my sandals for a pair of pumps. Bonus: it would also work as a perfect pool coverup. Just remove the grosgrain belt and you’re good to go.
- Jimmy Choo “Romy” Pumps – I almost never leave for a trip without some sort of nude heel. The style changes from time to time (last week’s trip to the beach called for these nude sandals) but more often than not, it’s a pump. I love the “Romy” style from Jimmy Choo. The classic style runs very true to size and is one you can count on to work with anything and everything – from blue jeans to this under-$150 cocktail dress. Big-time bonus: it’s also one of the most comfortable pumps out there. True story. (Note: It comes in a spectrum of colors – from basic to bright – and Nordstrom has all of them. They also have the same style in a shorter heel height, too.)
- Wander Eye Mask – While I’m well-versed on face masks, the eye mask is a new thing for me. A friend introduced me to these foil patches from Wander and they’re my new favorite thing. They worked miracles in terms of hydration and instantly brightened up my dark circles. Bonus: they’re gold and extra shiny. What’s not to love about that?
