pink lipstick

The holiday season is typically all about red – red this, red that, and especially red lipstick (hello, mistletoe). While I do love a bright red lip (I’ve been alternating between this classic shade and this red-orange one), lately I’ve been preferring more of a pink pout – especially now that Christmas is over. A hot pink lip not only looks fresh and youthful, but after reaching for red so often over the last few weeks, I’m more than ready for a new color. It adds such a good punch to any look – like the all-black ensembles (leather pants + this sparkly top) that seem to be filling my nights as of late. A touch of pink would be a great addition to an NYE look, too.

The key to making the pink work is just finding the right shade. Pink really does flatter almost any skin tone so for me, it comes down to my mood. If I’m feeling a little more feminine and girly then I go for this lighter, more frosty one. If I’m going bold (or in the case that I’m in the all-black look previously mentioned) then I go straight for a swipe of the Nars Audacious in “Michiyo.” It has major impact and goes on feeling velvety-smooth. (If you’re more of a gloss girl then I highly recommend this little set.) Those are basically both ends of the pink lipstick spectrum and there’s a million shades in between that just as good. Here, my top 10 tried-and-true favorites.
