In the spirit of firsts, this post is the first of a series I will be doing here on Luella and June. On the first day of each month I will feature a list of things you should be looking forward that month. Parties, people, premieres… all the happenings! I am excited to make the debut of these posts today because September just happens to be one of my very favorite months (see why below). So, flip over the page of that calendar – you never know what the next 30 days might hold. Happy 1st!
1. Fashion Week(s)
FIRST things first…fashion week. What more can I say? I have been waiting for September to arrive since, well, since the previous Fashion Week ended last February. Fashion Week kicks off in New York City on September 10th (9 days and counting…) and then heads to Paris, Milan, and London. So, get ready to log on to Style.com and start making your LookBooks for Spring 2010. I can hardly wait.
2. Cooler weather… and everything that comes with it
When the temperature starts to drop that means you can start to pull out your scarves, sweaters, and, best of all, your tights.
After gracing the corner of 5th Avenue since 1895, my favorite brown-and-white striped King is finally opening his doors to shoppers in Dallas. The accessories boutique is filled like a candy store (eye candy, that is) with delicious watches, rings, scarves, and more. Doors open: September 25th at North Park Center.
4. The Return of Old Friends
September brings Dr. Meredith Grey, Blair Waldorf and all of your other favorite TV characters back to your living room. Haven’t you missed them? Go ahead and set your DVRs, the first of the fall TV roundup begins next Tuesday with everyone’s favorite zip code, 90210 (8:00 CST, CW network).
5. The September Issue
I am excited about both of them: the actual September issue of Vogue and the new film about it. The documentary by RJ Cutler chronicles the creation of the September issue of the magazine.
This issue usually weighs around 5 pounds (that’s the equivalent of toting around a newborn baby) and is filled with the best-of-the-best of fall fashion. The film depicts the relationship between Editor-in-Chief, Anna Wintour, and Grace Coddington (the red head, you can’t miss her), Vogue’s longtime Creative Director. Go see the “Devil” herself in action when it hits theaters on September 11th.
