Confession: I own this J.Crew shirt in five (!) different colors. I didn’t buy them all at once. It’s a collection that’s grown over the past year – starting with the coral one I bought last summer last summer. It was a slippery slope from there.
It’s one of my all-time favorite shirts: it’s comfortable and cut perfectly (slightly oversized without looking sloppy the way some boyfriend-style shirts do). It certainly makes for a casual, throw-on-and-go shirt with denim, but it can also be dressed up (example: I tucked the navy one into these pants and threw on these heels for dinner last week). The number of times I wear this shirt in any given week totally justifies the purchase(s) in my book. At least that’s what I’m telling myself. I apply the same logic to things like this stripe shirt (three colors and counting), my favorite denim, and my wear-all-the-time sneakers. These are the kinds of pieces that become the workhorses of my wardrobe and save me from wasting too much time trying to figure out what to wear. When you find something that just works, embrace it.
