As much as I enjoy the daily process of getting dressed – putting together different looks, mixing and matching various pieces from my closet – there are some days where it just feels like too much work. It’s those days when I hit snooze one too many times leading to the inevitable morning panic (the worst) or the times when my to-do list seems to be never-ending and the last thing I want to think about is what top might work with these cropped pants and whether or not I should throw on a belt. It’s these moments when I turn to my arsenal of throw-on-and-go dresses.
I’m talking about those no-fuss dresses, the ones with simple silhouettes (hello, perfect shift dress) in classic colors that are every bit as chic as they are simple. My Farah dress from rag & bone is a perfect example of one of these. It’s a sleeveless pullover style (doesn’t get much easier than that) made from a double-layer of silk (read: so comfortable) that is the epitome of spring simplicity. In other words: it’s basically my favorite tank in dress form. I’ve been wearing it with flat sandals or sneaks (I’m really into the all-white kicks lately) during the day, and then throwing on a pair of wedges to dress it up for cocktail hour. Easy, peasy and no work required.
