As a big believer in the importance of snail mail (I try to pen at least three letters per week!), I always try to keep a plentiful supply of paper goods and stationery. While I use a monogrammed stationery (from Dallas’ Ellis Hill – my favorite spot for all things paper and gift-y) for the majority of my notes – especially thank you’s – there are lots of times where I just want to say hello and a funny, lighthearted card is more what I’m looking for. That’s where Sapling Press Cards comes in.
I can’t believe I didn’t know about these letterpress goodies sooner. The company’s About page pretty much sums it all up: “Typography-lovin’ graphic designer, turned letterpress-printin’ stationery designer. We make the cards you give to that one friend of yours who truly gets it. You know the one.” That’s exactly what these cards are. They’re witty and playful. They’re the cards you see and immediately know exactly which which friend of yours it’s meant for. I actually found myself laughing out loud at some of them (“The year is 2024 and your bangs have finally grown back in. This is the first day of the rest of your life.”). Needless to say, I’ve stocked up on these – especially the Ryan Gosling one. I can’t think of one single friend to whom I shouldn’t send that one.
