. Let’s talk books. The stack of books on my bedside table keeps getting taller (and taller) and doesn’t even have the titles I’ve pre-ordered (this one and this one) but haven’t arrived yet. The good news is that all my favorite TV shows are on hiatus so that should give me plenty of time to cozy up to some good books. I just finished The Nest. It’s a good one for summer. Next up? I’m not sure. I’m currently making my unofficial summer reading list and there’s a lot of goodies on it. I’ll be posting my list here next week so be sure to check back for that!
. Calling all blondes (or anyone with hair that’s in need of a little TLC)! This is a little bottle of magic. It’s giving life to my dry, chlorine-and-sun-exposed hair. It’s liquid gold. Trust me.
. Trips to Target can be hit or miss. Yesterday’s was a major hit. I came across the Marimekko collection and walked out of the store with a cart full of the home stuff. The tableware is the best of it. I picked up several sets of these dinner plates along with these salad plates. They’re such a fun mix for a summer dinner party.
. I finally watched The First Monday in May on my flight home last weekend. The entire film is so beautiful – from beginning to end! – and I loved learning more about the behind-the-scenes work of The Met Gala. I highly recommend watching this one.
. When it comes to my very favorite foods, peanut butter is near the very top of the list. I love the stuff. It doesn’t matter what the meal is – breakfast, lunch, or dinner – I can almost always find a way to include peanut butter. So when I came across this recipe for peanut butter pancakes on Food52 a couple of weeks ago, I knew I had to make it. So I did. Multiple times. Guys. These are amazing pancakes. The peanut butter is included in the batter which means every single bite has that delicious nutty flavor. They’re surprisingly light, too. You’d think they’d be super rich and heavy but ’tis not the case. These are magical pancakes and my new favorite Sunday morning breakfast.
. While we’re on the subject of cooking, I also can’t get enough of Gwyneth’s newest cookbook, It’s All Easy. I’ve made my way through many of the recipes (the spinach-pesto zoodles are delicious and the chicken piccata is a new fam favorite!) and I can attest that not only are they healthy and very tasty, but they are, in fact, super easy to make. It’s perfect for busy weeknights when you’re in the mood to cook but crunched for time.
. We’re on a non-stop wedding circuit around here. Just last week, I received three wedding invitations and two save-the-dates. That means comfortable heels (read: dance floor-ready!) have never been more important. Think: block heels (just scored these on sale!) and wedges. Word to the wise: my mini-wedges from LR are so comfortable and can withstand hours on the dance floor.
. Essential oils. What do you know about them? Tell me. I keep hearing/reading about how they’re basically a cure-all for so many things – stress, anxiety, eczema, sleeping problems…the list goes on. A friend of mine turned me on to this one to help me fall asleep. Initially, I sort of rolled my eyes, but after a couple of weeks with it, I can honestly say that I think it’s working. If you have any other thoughts on these, I’d love to know!
. Here’s a Lucy story that will make you laugh. During the first couple of weeks of May, I noticed that whenever Lucy came in from the backyard, she was wet. I couldn’t figure out why but Lucy loves the water so I assumed she’d found some sort of gross puddle in the yard and made an attempt to go for a swim. That is, until I got a phone call from our neighbor and found out that she was indeed swimming – in his pool. That mischievous little puppy found a hidden hole in the fence and had been sneaking off for two weeks to take a quick dip in his pool. I couldn’t help but laugh. Needless to say, we’ve fixed the hole and Lucy isn’t super happy ’bout it. I should probably buy her this pool for summer, yes?
. I just made the first of many summer playlists and this is the first song on it. It’s one of my old favorites from The Kooks and the perfect jam for the windows-down weather we’ve have had lately. Anyone else a fan?
