ODE TO IRO

iro carene tweed jacket

IRO Jacket // J.CREW Cashmere Tee // J BRAND Jeans // Vintage handbag (similar here) // SISLEY PARIS Lip Balm in “Baby”

While I’m all about a good deal (see: here and here), there are certain wardrobe items that I deem worthy of a splurge. The items that fall into this category are what I consider those timeless, quality pieces (think: the best leather pants, my very favorite wear-with-everything cashmere sweaters) that I not only love right this minute, but that I’ll continue to love for many seasons to come.

One item that always makes the short list is an IRO jacket. The one I’m wearing here is the newest of several I’ve collected over the years. I bought my first one nearly six years ago and I still love it just as much now as I did then. And there’s a reason for that. These jackets are as functional as they are chic, and while the colors and materials change season to season, the overall fit and style remain the same. The tailoring is perfection, too: snug in just the right places (note: I recommend sizing up) and, thanks to small pads, they have strong shoulder lines. Their jackets are feminine with an edge, which just so happens to be my favorite kind of combo. My bouclé-tweed one has become a fast favorite because I can wear it with so many different things. I think it looks just as good over a t-shirt and jeans as it does over an LBD. In other words: this is a jacket you’ll probably be seeing a lot of over the next few months.
