HOLIDAY DRESSING

One week! With just seven days to go, the countdown to Christmas is officially on. And I am so ready. The hustle and bustle of the holiday parties (I’ve attended eight parties in the last week and I have another one tomorrow) has me feeling a little worn out. Anyone else? Don’t get me wrong. I love all of the festivities, but weeknights are tough when you’ve still got a pile of work at the office to wrap up before the end of the year.

Of course, I do love dressing for the occasion. Festive touches like these green pants and a little added sparkle here and there are what make it fun. The key is to get organized with it. Since I’m usually running late from work, I don’t have a lot of time to spend devising a whole new look for a party. Instead, I rely on a few key pieces that, when mixed and matched with other things, take me straight through the holiday season with ease. A pair of cropped pants like these are a must-have for me. I can wear them to the office and simply change my top and add a pair of heels for a night-out. I’ve been alternating between my green pair and this sparkly pair. Both of them work as a neutral and pair well with just about anything.

Other key pieces included metallic extras. A clutch like this one or a pair of these will do the trick. A little shine – no matter what the color – always feels festive. Last but not least: red lipstick. I could wear all black and apply some red lipstick and I’m all set. My favorites include this one for an extra bright night or, for a more pink-red, this Aerin one.
