GIAMBATTISTA VALLI COUTURE

I usually don’t post fashion show recaps here because I feel like they get posted everywhere else and by the time you all make it to Luella & June, you’re probably tired of seeing it. However, when a show is so good that I’m thinking about it over breakfast, lunch and dinner, well, I simply must post. That’s the case with the Giambattista Valli couture show that took place in Paris on Monday. Inspired by Coco Chanel and Janis Joplin, an unlikely pairing with one similarity: they were both rule-breakers when it came to their wardrobes. This breathtaking collection featured everything from flared tunics worn over tapered trousers to feather capes to frothy-pink gowns rendered in swaths of tulle. The layers of intricacy and detail (textured brocades! embroidered florals!) of each piece are endless and truly awe-inspiring. The entire collection was just breathtakingly dreamy. Valli’s collections are always magical (remember this one?) but this season’s was especially so.

Think we will see any celebrities donning one of these marvelous creations on the red carpet come February 22nd?
