Thanks to a quick perusal of Gadabout’s blog (the girl has such a good eye!), I’m now in love with the work of Hannah Rampley. The textile designer and illustrator is inspired by her hometown along with the patterns in everyday objects to create her hand-dyed and screen printed fabrics. Have you ever seen anyone else make a vegetable or a fruit look so good? Those colors! What’s even more amazing is that the artist has just graduated this month (just think about what you were doing right after graduation). What a talented young lady! They’re just such bright, happy prints. Of course, they would be perfect in a beach house (hello!), but I also think it would be amazing to have one of these prints as a wallpaper lining the entry hall of a house. Or maybe in a powder room? What do you think? You can tell that I’ve clearly already planned it all out in my imaginary home. Check out more of her work online.

Meet Vara. You may already know her. The iconic Salvatore Ferragamo flat celebrates its 35th anniversary this year. 35 years! How am I just now taking note of these fabulous little lady shoes? I’m normally not one for a patent leather AND a bow (this combo usually feels a little too fussy for my style) but these shoes are an exception. This style feels super classic, yet so fresh. They remind me of something my grandmother might have worn – and that’s a good thing. (This WSJ article pretty much sums up my sentiment on that.)

To celebrate Vara’s big anniversary, Salvatore Ferragamo launched the L’Icona campaign, an online gallery featuring 21 tastemakers (Lauren Santo Domingo, Olivia Palermo, and Lily Aldridge, to name a few) in their own custom Vara flats. That’s right. You can actually customize your own pair – leather color, ribbon color, and, for a little extra, you can even add your initials to the sole. Sign me up. Although, the colors they’ve got already are pretty fantastic. This fiery red color, for example. These heels are obviously perfect for an LBD or pair of tailored pants, but I love the idea of wearing them with something a little more unexpected. Like a pair of boyfriend jeans rolled at the cuffs. Or – even better – a pair of printed shorts. It just makes the look at little more funky, you know?

I’m also a huge fan of Vara’s little sister: Varina (especially in this “Morning Rose” hue). She gives you all the ladylike glam you want – but without a heel. I think this might be the most perfect petal pink/nude ballet flat I’ve ever seen. Agreed?

There’s not a color (or non-color?) I like to wear more than white. This is accurate pretty much year-round, but never more true than in the summer. I own way too many of these types of easy-breezy blouses (I wore this one three times this week), and I pretty much alternate between my favorite white jeans and my white denim shorts. I would wear white-on-white everyday if I could – and most days, I do. It’s just such a clean, fresh color – not to mention, it keeps me cool during these warm (more like scorching if you’re in Texas) weather months. I also love that it’s like a blank canvas making it easy add color and print with accessories. I usually throw a printed scarf into the mix and then add some fun jewelry. I adore these Chan Luu necklaces (perfect for layering over this other Chan Luu skull necklace). It also makes for easy packing. I usually just throw in several white favorites and then just change my day-to-day look with accessories. Simple as that.

Since the weather pretty much stays the same here throughout the entire summer (hot and hotter), my wardrobe tends to remain pretty consistent the whole time. I alternate between several mainstays (like my jean shorts I told you about here) and I don’t switch it up until the first sign of fall. One of the items in my summer circuit is an embroidered dress – more than one, to be exact. I love these little dresses (I wear this Tory Burch one as a coverup or a tunic over white jeans). They feel so summery, and they’re just SO easy. I simply one on with a pair of sandals and go.

I’ve admitted to you all that washing my hair doesn’t happen all that often. We’re talking once-a-week, maybe twice. (My husband finds this totally gross but whatever.) It’s one of my least favorite things to do (it takes forrrevvver). I’m not ashamed to admit that I’m a frequent salon visitor (I won’t tell you how frequent) because they can get it done in half the time it would take me and it looks SO much better. What I am good at, however, is making my blowouts last. For like a really long time. I have a small army of products that take care of that for me – three things to be exact. First off: Oscar Blandi’s dry shampoo. I like this one but it also comes in a spray if that’s more your thing. I use this several times a week or every day depending on how long its been since my last wash. I just pat a little bit here and there on my roots. It’s the best way to get rid of that greasiness – not to mention, it’s a good way to mask some of those darker roots if you’re in between color appointments.

Next: Oribe’s Dry Texturizing Spray. This stuff is amazing (as is the entire Oribe line) and it comes in this travel size which makes it ever better. You know how your hair starts to go flat the day or two after your blowout, this spray is your answer. It gives texture and volume to the hair and sort of a mini-rootlift. Some people use this in place of their dry shampoo which totally works. It’s great dry shampoo solution for brunettes since it’s clear and doesn’t give you that white-ish color that other dry shampoos might. I usually just spray it on several sections of my roots, scrunch a bit and then just run my fingers through. I’m telling you – magic. potion.

Finally, Oribe’s Aprés Beach Wave and Shine Spray. I have tried a million different beach-y hair sprays. None of them have worked like this one. It’s a must-have during the summer (aren’t we all after those tousled looking waves?), but I use it year-round. It’s a spray that you can use on wet or dry hair. I spray it all over my hair in the morning and give it a good scrunch if my hair just needs a little extra texture. If I’m really craving waves, I’ll wrap sections of hair around this curling iron and then spray the stuff all over and give it a good scrunch. Done and done. Since it works miracles on wet hair, too, I’ll usually just spray it all over my damp hair after a shower and then just let it air dry. Or I’ll spray it in and then braid my hair before I go to bed. When I wake up: waves. It was my go-to on the honeymoon (this travel size is perfect) since I certainly didn’t bring out the blowdryer there.

3.1 PHILLIP LIM Sunglasses // Hoop Earrings (similar) // J.CREW Popover (on SALE) // J.CREW Striped Shirt // JOE’S JEANS Denim Shorts // ANCIENT GREEK Sandals

This might have made a perfect 4th of July outfit but I couldn’t save it that long – plus red, white, and blue are year-round classics around here. My mom surprised me with this J.crew popover (that’s the term J.Crew uses to describe it) last month. At first, I wasn’t sure how to wear it. It’s not a top that you really wear on its own (though you absolutely could if you wanted) but I wasn’t quite sure exactly what to pair it with either. After trying it on over several different tops, I quickly realized it’s not as I difficult as I thought. It magically goes with lots of different things. It’s great over a solid tee, but I love to mix it with other patterns (like this striped top you see here). It’s surprisingly easy to wear, and it sort of jazzes up any old outfit – throw it on over a white t-shirt and jean shorts and you’re set to go.

This week seemed to go by much quicker than last week. Our place is finally organized, and we’re no longer walking around cardboard boxes and tripping over random piles of things on the floor. I’m glad we’ve got that done because we’re headed out of town this weekend and I hate coming home to a messy house after being gone (agreed?). We’ll be in Austin this weekend celebrating a friend’s wedding. This is our fourth wedding since March (including our own), and we have two more to look forward to this summer. Whew! Lots o’ weddings. I’ve always loved weddings, but for some reason I think after having my own, I love them even more. It’s like once you’ve been through it yourself, you know exactly what the bride is feeling and you really appreciate all of the little details. In other words: I can’t wait. TGIF.

Summa salad: I’m obsessed with watermelons. They’re my favorite fruit. I eat them all day, every day. That’s why I love this summer salad. Yum. Plus – it takes like ten minutes to make. Even better.

Carrie Bradshaw is back: With a shoe collection, apparently. The news this week is that Sarah Jessica Parker is collaborating with Manolo Blahnik (of course) on a collection that’ll be out next year.

So. Many. Sales: They’re all over the place. Let’s break it down right here.

Gap – 30% off today…enter the code GAPTREAT at checkout. This is usually when I stock up on my favorite GapFit stuff (like these).

Barneys – check out these ballet flats (so comfortable!) and don’t forget about the home section!

Moda O’perandi - one of the bests, in my opinion. I purchased this striped dress as a 4th of July option.

Net-a-Porter - the good stuff is going fast. I’m in love with these Stella shorts.

Shopbop – the best for last. Lots of new things (like this little dress and my favorite Rag & Bone boots!) were just added.
