A change in season always calls for a few tweaks to one’s usual routines – including beauty. The transition from summer to fall is an awkward time with weather – one day it’s 90 degrees and the next I’m piling on the winter layers. As a result, my skin feels weird. My face becomes overly dry and I start to get these unsightly red splotches (still searching for a product that answers this woe). This is when I know it’s time to change up the products. While I’ve never been one for an elaborate beauty regimen (I’m a big believer in keeping it simple when it comes to my skin), there are a few products that I simply can’t live without during the summer to fall transition. Scroll below to check them out. As always, if you have any recommendations, do let me me know.

I grew up in Charleston, SC and when I moved to Boston for college my skin was NOT happy when it got cold outside and hot and bone dry inside. I frantically went to Sephora in search of help and came out with Philosophy Purity face wash. It’s a little on the pricey side, but a little drop goes a long way and it easily takes off dirt and makeup without stripping the moisture. I have normal skin and get away with using Ponds for Sensitive Skin as my moisturizer, so I recommend that if you think your skin can handle the oil in it!
oh boy, do i know what you mean about the summer to fall transition, especially for my skin. thankfully, i just discovered YSL’s LE TEINT TOUCHE ÉCLAT Illuminating Foundation and i’m completely hooked. it’s light, provides medium coverage (i don’t need much) and feels great on my skin (which pretty much hates foundation).

I love any face products from Laura Mercier! Oh & I have one of the Clarisonic Mia’s and you’re right – isn’t too intense for my sensitive skin!!
i would guess your splotchiness comes from the soap and moisturizer you are using… i used to get it too when the seasons changed and i no longer do now that i have transitioned to more natural skincare lines!let me know if you are interested in some recommendations!
You know I could recommend PLENTY of products…
Just picked up the Neutrogena Hydrating Makeup Wipes and am looking forward to trying them out. I was looking for something on those late nights when I’m too tired to wash my fash completely.
have been a fan of aquaphor for year – cannot live without it for my lips! interesting to see a cream that works on dark circles – didn’t know it was possible… must check it out! x
I love my clarisonic. definitely worth the $$.
I don’t know if you have the store Lush where you are but they make the most amazing balm cleanser called Ultrabland. It is honestly the only thing that calmed my sensitive, acne-prone, hormonal skin down after many years of looking! Since it has beeswax and honey in it you also end up with super balanced and moisturised skin without loads of nasties. You just rub it on without water and then use a damp wash cloth to wipe it all away. Therapeutic and so so effective!!
What color is the nars lipstick??? LOVE IT!
So for the red splotches, definitely try this Dr. Hauschka Rose Day Cream (http://www.dermstore.com/product_Rose+Day+Cream_31031.htm) or Elizabeth Arden’s 8 Hour Day Cream mixed with a little Particia Wexler Regenerating Serum (the pink stuff). I’m telling you – wonders!!
