I have a long list of favorite purchases I’ve made this summer, but there are only a handful of things that I would file under the “can’t live without ’em” category. It’s those things that I wear so often that I sort of can’t remember what I was wearing before. What comes to mind? My espadrilles from Manebí and this J.Crew necklace. I guess you could call them my personal summer classics because I seem to find a way to work at least one of these items into every single look.
While I always find plenty of fun, party-ready jewels (have you seen these?!) at J.Crew, the everyday basics are harder to come by there. This necklace is an exception. It’s a classic piece that works on its own or layered up with something else. (The same goes for this bracelet that I scooped up last week.)
Then there’s my Manebi espadrilles. I could write poetry about these shoes. I came across Manebí while I was in NYC early this summer. The bright colors and fun patterns were initially what caught my eye and the minute I tried on the first pair, I was hooked. Not only do they come in a variety of fun fabrics (I’m after these pink ones next), but they’re seriously the most comfortable espadrilles ever. They’re a day-to-night shoe. They’re comfy enough for long days of walking (I learned this while wearing them all day in Italy last month), but chic enough to throw on with a little dress for cocktails. (I wear them with this cotton dress all the time.)
P.S. Manebí doesn’t do half-sizes. If you normally fall somewhere in between, I recommend sizing down. They feel slightly snug at first but after a few wears, the natural weave and fibers stretch just the perfect amount.
