TGIF. I mean it. Seriously. This week has been a very busy one, and I think next week is going to be even busier. The good news is that I’ll have a little break between the two with my trip to Napa this weekend. I’m headed to Cali for a friend’s wedding; and even though it’s only a quick trip (48 hours!), I couldn’t be more excited about it. On that note, this is going to be a short post because I’m currently sitting here looking at an empty suitcase on my floor. Time to get packing! I hope you all have a great weekend.

(P.S. For your weekend pleasure: have you seen this striped gown from Oscar de la Renta’s S/S 13 collection? It’s a-mazing. It takes my stripe addiction to another level.)

While I haven’t abandoned my peep toe pumps, I’m much more focused on the ankle strap sandal at the moment. I never paid much attention to this style, but in the past year I’ve acquired two pairs – and after spotting this style from Nicholas, I’m about add one more pair. There’s something very feminine about this sandal’s silhouette. Plus, it’s just so simple, minimalist. This shoe could be worn just about anywhere and with anything – jeans, shorts, cocktail dresses. Talk about getting a lot of bang for your buck. The only question is, which color to choose?

While I loved every minute of my week in New York City, I’m really happy to be back at home. Don’t get me wrong. I’m always up for a hotel stay (and maybe a little room service?), but after a couple of days, I was longing for a night in my own bed, and, even more, my own office space. Since my big job change last month, I’ve been working from home a lot more; so, it’s been really important that I have a work space in my apartment that is both functional and inspiring. With so much of my time spent right here at this desk, it really just needs to be a place that I enjoy working day after day. Here’s a peek at some of my favorite details from the space.

Fresh flowers are a splurge – but well worth it, in my opinion! And these white cups from Poppin help keep my pens organized.

A Jonathan Adler pillow adds some necessary color to my desk chair.

A few of my favorite coffee table books (Hitchcock Style is a must have!) and this adorable vintage giraffe from High Street Market. How cute is he?

This book provides instant inspiration! Plus – it brings me back to my days of crayons and coloring books.

My turquoise vases from Design Darling, and my favorite part – the golden piggy bank!

What a week! I’m finally back from my whirlwind of a trip to NYC. It was such a fun six days. I attended Lucky FABB, went to a couple of shows, and, best of all, got to meet so many of my favorite bloggers. I also had the chance to see the NYFW street style first hand – and, needless to say, it’s even better in person. Even with a day pouring rain and temperatures that felt more like Texas than NYC (note the abundance of shorts), editors and street style stars still managed to look impossibly chic. Between fantastic print pairings and swoon-worthy accessories (I’m looking at you, Prada clutch!), here’s a look at some of my favorite snaps from photogs across the web.

When packing for my trip to New York (blogging from the city right now!), I tried to include items that can be easily mixed and matched – leather pants, blazers, tees, and plenty of prints. These leopard skinnies from Current/Elliott were one of the first things I put in my suitcase. Not only do they fit like a glove, but  the gray color allows for easy mixing and matching with other pieces – and other prints, too! (Have you seen the latest version? Check them out in corduroy!) While I’m never one to shy away from a bright print, neutral hues like this one allow for plenty of flexibility when getting dressed. I’ll wear these skinnies with tees for now, but, come winter, I’ll be pairing them with a cozy  sweater in gray or winter white.

Happy September! We’re already four days (!) into the new month which means we can officially start focusing on fall shopping. If there’s one pattern we all know will never go out of style it’s leopard. And it’s not going anywhere this season. We’re going to see the feline print on everything from blouses to ballet flats. My personal pick for the print? Outerwear. A leopard coat is a neutral when it comes to fall dressing. You can throw it on over jeans and a tee to dress up a causal look, or pair it over an LBD at a cocktail party. It goes with everything. The key here is to keep the rest of your look simple. Let the coat take center stage. Just take a look at these ladies above for inspiration. While you can certainly make a serious investment on one of these coats, I actually prefer this budget-friendly option from ASOS. This way you’ll have a a little money left over to spend on some other fall goodies.
