MONDAY: BACK TO THE BASICS

IRO Jacket / DL1961 Jeans / MADEWELL Tee / CELINE Tote (similar print clutch) / ALEXANDER WANG Heels / RAY-BAN Sunglasses

When it comes to getting dressed, I always go back to the basics. A great pair of denim, a well-tailored jacket, simple tees, and crisp white blouses are the foundation of a great wardrobe. One of my favorite basics is a  structured jacket. It’s a classic piece, and it can be easily mixed and matched with so many other wardrobe items. I splurged on this IRO tweed jacket a couple of weeks ago. I knew I would wear it a million times over – plus I adore the zipper details and its red/pink color. It was all I needed to add some polish to my simple gray tee and jeans

GOTTA HAVE IT: SIGERSON MORRISON DALI WEDGES

Images via StreetPeeper
I was planning to do a post on colorblocking today (check back for that next week!), and in researching items, I came across these colorblocked wedges from Sigerson Morrison. I decided these shoes deserved an entire post to themselves. I’m obsessed. There’s so much to love about this shoe: the pop of color (hello, mint!), the ankle strap detail, and, best of all, the LUCITE accent on the back! I don’t think I can resist a pair. Now, which color to choose? Blue, mint, or pink? Or perhaps I should opt for this nude version instead? Decisions, decisions…

START STRUTTING: STILETTO STRUT 2012

It’s that time of year again. Neiman Marcus is hosting the annual Stiletto Strut this Thursday, April 26th. Benefitting The Family Place, the “strut” will take place at the Downtown store beginning at 6:30 PM. Not only will DJ Lucy Wrubel be there spinning tunes, but there’s also an amazing lineup of raffle items (Ashley Pittman bangles and a year’s worth of shoes, to name just a few!). I’ll be there strutting for the cause! I would love to see you all there! Click here to purchase a ticket.

STREET STYLE FAVORITES: WHITE DENIM

If there’s one wardrobe item I really can’t live without in the spring/summer season, it’s my white jeans.  I wear them at least three times per week, and I make sure to have two pairs (Rag & Bone and DL1961) that I love because one pair is inevitably always in the laundry. Not only do they go with literally everything, but I just love the fresh look of white denim in the spring. These three ladies look super chic in their white jeans – some look inspiration for this week!

The warm weather has me pulling out all of my favorite flat sandals. I noticed that I seem to have plenty of black and tan pairs, but my color selection is lacking. It’s important to have the basics, but it’s definitely necessary to have a few color pops in there too. Here’s a quick round up of my favorite – not to basic – flats.

ACCESSORY STAPLE: THEODORA & CALLUM SCARF

Zara Dress (similar sleeveless version here), Theodora & Callum Scarf, Jean Jacket (similar here), Scoop Clutch (similar here), Modern Vintage Sandals, Céline Sunglasses

I’ve been blogging about my love for Theodora & Callum scarves for quite awhile. The bold prints feature some of the most gorgeous color combinations making the scarves just the things to bump up a basic outfit. I layered my jean jacket over this easy tee dress from Zara, and the Theodora & Callum scarf added just the right amount of color punch. I’ve been wearing this Zara dress non-stop (I love the high-low hemline!). It’s one of those pieces that just works in a million different ways. (I just bought this similar Madewell tank dress for the summer.) Speaking of versatility, these shoes are my new go-to wedges. They’re one of my favorite purchases this year. Not only do they go with nearly everything, but they might be the most comfortable pair of heels I own.
