TREND REPORT: YSL ARTY RING

I know the YSL “Arty” ring isn’t new and that we’ve all heard about it for quite sometime now, but I just can’t seem to get enough of it! This statement-making ring has been spotted all over the blogosphere lately, not to mention on the hands of some of our favorite celebrities. It’s available in a myriad of color options, including turquoise, blue glass, and pink glass, all wrapped up in gold metal. I might just have to treat myself to one of these. I’m thinking the turquoise one, or maybe the white? Thoughts?

WEEKEND GETAWAY: THE BIG EASY

Happy Weekend, readers! I’m headed to New Orleans with some friends and family for a little belated birthday celebration! Can you believe this will be my first time to the Big Easy? We’ll only be there for a couple of days, so we’ve got plenty of things to cover (and lots of delicious meals to eat!). Lucky for me, Lonny magazine’s latest “Travel Style” featured New Orleans. Not to mention, the June issue of Lucky provided a perfect shop-by-shop guide to Magazine Street. There are so many things I want to see (and shop) while I’m there! If you have any suggestions, I’d love to hear them! I hope you have a fabulous  long weekend!

WHAT I LOVE RIGHT NOW

SNAPSHOTS: RACHEL ZOE IN DALLAS

Ba-na-nas! Last night we had the honor of attending a small cocktail party hosted by Neiman Marcus to preview the Rachel Zoe F/W 2011 collection. Held at the fabulous (and I do mean fabulous) home of NM’s Fashion Director Ken Downing, the evening was filled with cocktails, bites, and, of course, amazing fashion. We were so excited to see the models styled in pieces from the upcoming Rachel Zoe collection! There’s so many things to look forward to here: fur vests, wide leg trousers, sequin blazers, and a bevy of chic dresses. Of course, my favorite piece from the collection was the one that Zoe, herself, was sporting – a Grecian-inspired long, one-shoulder white dress. As happy as I am that the warm weather has returned, I’ll be looking forward to taking in a few of these pieces when fall returns.
Check out NM Daily for more coverage of the event!

WELL ROUNDED

And they’re back – the classic round shape for sunglasses was all over the runways this season. While the production of sunglasses began as early as the 1930′s, it wasn’t until the ’60′s that style icons such as Grace Kelly, Audrey Hepburn and Jackie Kennedy began sporting the sunnies. I love the laid-back appeal of these shades. Which pair is your favorite?

TREND REPORT: FEELING FLORAL

Nothing says spring fashion quite like floral prints. While I normally opt for less “girly” patterns, there’s something about florals that have been appealing to me lately. I’ve been seeing plenty of botanical pieces on the streets (how adorable does Hanneli look in the blue/green frock?) in everything from chiffon dresses to accessories. You can find the print in all sorts of variations – from muted to bright, and small to extra large. Here are some of my floral favorites!

SPRING CLEANING FOLLOW UP

I’m happy to say that I actually followed through on my promise to get started on my spring cleaning, and just to prove to y’all that it actually happened I thought I would share a little picture. I have a small shelf area in my closet where I keep my accessories, and, as you can see from the “before” image, the jewelry shelf had gotten completely out of control. Things were piled on top of one another, necklaces were tangled,  etc.

The first thing I did was a major clean-out – time to get rid of some of those Silly Bandz I was so fond of last year – followed by some simple organizing. I hung a clear necklace rack from Container Store on the right side, and I used old candlesticks to stack my bangles. I had my super creative friend re-paint that jewelry bust that was purchased in the 7th grade (it had been covered by necklaces for so long that I failed to see that unpleasant pink color that was underneath…yikes!). My favorite part is the super easy addition of cork board. Inspired by this image from Lucky magazine, I decided that cork board would be a great place to hang necklaces, and pin outfit inspiration.

The first spring cleaning project is complete! Now a cleaning out of my bathroom drawers is in order…
