Style Ethics: Lemlem

With the month of May right around the corner (where did the time go?), I’ve got my mind on easy breezy wardrobe pieces for summer. I am totally smitten with latest styles by Lemlem. Founded by supermodel and Goodwill Ambassador Liya Kebede, Lemlem employs local artisans in Kebede’s home country of Ethiopia to produce the handmade goods. The collection includes dresses, ponchos, scarves, and shirts – all made from completely sustainable materials. (There’s even an adorable collection of children’s clothing as well!) I adore all of the bright colors, and the lightweight, gauzy fabric will be perfect for hot summer days.

Royal Treatment: Celebrate at Home

This Friday morning two billion people are expected to watch Kate Middleton walk down the aisle to marry Prince William. 3 a.m. – the time news coverage is set to begin here – is a little early for me, so I’ve opted to have a viewing/celebration party a little later in the day. Here are a couple of my favorite ways to celebrate the royal festivities in the comfort of your own home! What are your plans?

1. MAC Lipstick in Show Orchid 2. MAKEUP FOREVER Ligloss in Pearly Electric Rose 3. REVLON Orange Flip 4. NARS Wonder Lipgloss and Bolero Matte Pencil

I am in love with the bright, bold lips I’ve been seeing all over the place this season. (I’m a huge fan of Revlon’s Orange Flip!) Paired with natural skin and minimal eye makeup, these hot pink and orange hues add the perfect pop of color to your look!

FAB FOUR: Statement Necklaces

When it comes to accessories, sometimes all you need is just one knock-out piece to make the look. I’m always on the hunt for statement necklaces that I can wear to glam up a simple tee and jeans or pair with an LBD for a cocktail party. These necklaces certainly fit the bill. That Lizzie Fortunato piece (#1) is calling my name. Which one is your favorite?

Another Royal Wedding

With the Royal Wedding just one week from today, I thought it would be fun to take a look back at another Royal Wedding. In April of 1956 American beauty Grace Kelly married Prince Rainier III of Monaco. I had never seen this short film of the wedding and was thrilled when I discovered it on YouTube. Just a quick glimpse into what is has been called “the wedding of the century.” Can we talk about that gown?  So stunning! Here’s a little fun fact about her gown for you: MGM actually gifted Grace Kelly with her wedding gown. At that time it was customary for the company to provide wedding gowns for their lead actresses, so they hired costume designer Helen Rose to design the high-neck, long-sleeved gown. Just think about the detail that went into that design (the gown was constructed with 125-year-old Brussels rose point lace!). Only makes me more curious about what Kate Middleton will be wearing in 7 days…
