Book It: The Secret of Chanel No. 5

No matter what your perfume of choice is, there’s no denying that Chanel No. 5 is perhaps the most timeless scent in the fragrance world. The perfume, which was created in 1921 by Coco Chanel, herself, along with Ernest Beaux, has become an icon of the twentieth century, not to mention the best-selling perfume in the world. In her most recent book, The Secret of Chanel No. 5: An Intimate History of the World’s Most Famous Perfume, Tilar J. Mazzeo uncovers the story behind the creation and remarkable sucess of the scent.

Designer Spotlight: Elva Fields

Elva Maynard creates one of kind necklaces and earrings for her Elva Fields Jewelry line that are fabulous for the fall and holiday seasons. Her statement necklaces are stunning worth their one-of-a-kind price tag. Unfortunately, they sell out quickly so if you see something you like I’d jump on it!

Elva Fields offers three different collections – Elva (one of a kind), June (limited editions) and Deb (vintage). As you can see, her necklaces are large, bold, and chunky pieces that exude a feminine and sophisticated feel. Each one has such character that I find myself creating outfits based on the necklace itself.

The End: Kate Moss for Topshop

Next month marks the beginning of the end of Kate Moss for Topshop. On Novemebr 2, the style icon will release her 14th and final collection for the British retailer. The good news, though, is that the collection will be full of Kate’s favorite styles, including sequin pants, floral-prints, and feather capes. Watch the video below for a peek at the collection!

Accessory Report: Dannijo iPad Cases

I’ve told you before how much I adore the edgy-chic jewelry that is Dannijo – and now there’s even more to love with the launch of their new iPad cases. The designer duo (and sisters!), Danielle and Jody Snyder, looked to their multi-hued necklaces and bracelets for their latest creation. The result? Vibrant psychedelic-prints that are just as striking as their jewelry pieces – and the perfect place to house your iPad. Shop it here!

Shop It: Castor & Pollux

While perusing this week’s T magazine, I came across these gorgeous gold bangles and discovered they were from New York-based Castor & Pollux. After some serious browsing on their site, I’m obsessed! The store is filled with tailored, feminine pieces – Richard Chai blouses and Acne sweaters – as well as super chic accessories like Marais lace up heels. While their online site may not have the largest selection – but don’t worry, the fab gold bangles are available online – the storefront is supposed to be wonderful. This will certainly be a shopping stop on my next NYC trip!

Shake it and Shop it!

Neiman Marcus is getting a head start on the holiday season (there are just 64 days until Christmas) with two exciting new holiday features that are sure to help us out this season. The first is this fabulous app that helps you find that perfect gift. Available for both the iPhone and the iPad, you can search by price (i.e. “Gifts under $100″) and then all you have to do is shake it and a gift idea will appear on the screen! Even better? For every download NM will donate $1 to Big Brothers Big Sisters. Spread the holiday cheer!

The second holiday offering is NM’s Buy Now, Gift Later program. Browse through a number of select items and if you purchase them now, NM will gift wrap and ship them to you free of charge just in time for the holidays. How convenient is that? If you’re like me and prefer to get your holiday shopping out of the way then this is the perfect opportunity!

Cut25

Yigal Azrouel is known for his uber-feminine designs and brilliant draping techniques – but he’s also known for his steep price tags. Good thing the designer has just launched Cut25, a younger, more budget-friendly line. Named for the designer’s lucky number, Cut25 offers an assortment of sportswear separates including sequined leggings and leather bomber jackets in neutral hues (read: black, gray, and white). The 32-piece collection will be produced locally in New York City and will feature a “Made in New York” label including special care instructions hand-sewn in each garment.
