Pop of Color! Missoni 2009

There are few things more appealing to my eye than a pop of bright color backed by a subtle neutral. The Missoni Spring/Summer 2009 ads by photographer Steven Meisel perfectly capture that must-get-away feeling that I long for while sitting at my office desk. The good news is that 4th of July weekend is only days away! What are your plans?

Louis Vuitton Fall/Winter 2010 Ad Campaign

I am totally in love with Louis Vuitton’s Fall/Winter 2010-11 ad campaign. The retro-inspired campaign was shot by Steven Miesel in a New York studio made to look like a 1950s style backstage dressing room (very old Hollywood glam). Styled by Karl Templer, the photos feature the likes of Christy Turlington, Natalia Vodianova and Karen Elson – that’s three different decades of models right there! The trio looks absolutely stunning in LV’s “And God Created Woman” collection of circle skirts and corseted waists. Look out for the campaign when it launches this August.

Book It: Fifth Avenue, 5 A.M.

Looking for a good beach read? Here it is. Fifth Avenue, 5 A.M., written by Sam Wasson, shows us how Truman Capote’s original book Breakfast at Tiffany’s was adapted into the film we all know and love. Wasson gives us insight into all sorts of interesting facts – for example, did you know that Capote originally wanted Marilyn Monroe to play Holly Golightly? And “Moon River” almost didn’t make the film at all? (What a different film it would be with Miss Monroe as Holly Golightly and no “Moon River”?) Of course the film turned out exactly like it should be, and if you want to know how then this is the read for you! This book just jumped to the top of my Kindle summer reading list…
