Red Carpet: Sex and the City 2 Premiere

Your favorite foursome hit the red carpet on Tuesday night at Radio City Music Hall for the Sex and the City 2 premiere. The ladies looked stunning: SJP rocked a chartreuse Valentino gown while Cynthia Nixon opted for a classic Carolina Herrera, and Kim Cattrall in Naeem Khan. My favorite? Kristin Davis’ vintage couture Jean Desses gown (circa 1950s) from Decades. The hot pink frock was an absolute showstopper and perfect for the red carpet! Editorial: Hang Ten


Nothing says the beach like a great pair of sunnies, wedges and full on bright color! For the June issue of Flare magazine, model Alana Zimmer and photographer Max Abadian head straight to the ocean shore for this surf-filled editorial. The styling here is out of control – we can thank the talent of Elizabeth Cabra for that. Don’t you love all of the fun colors? And look at her rainbow hair – love it! The accessories have my name written all over them. Those woven necklaces? Yes, please.

Accessory Report: Chan Luu for Banana Republic

For their first ever collection with an outside jewelry designer, Banana Republic has teamed up with Vietnam-born designer Chan Luu to create a limited edition collection of hip, wrap-around bracelets. The 17-piece collection will feature 4 different styles of the wrap-arounds which combine custom-dyed leather or thread with gold, silver or semi-precious stone inlays. Priced from $95 to $225, the bracelets are a bit pricey, but it’s definitely a piece you can wear with anything (I have the light brown with silver stones version from his current collection and I wear it all the time). The hippie-chic pieces are now available at their accessories-only concept store in San Francisco – but don’t worry, you’ll have a chance to snag your own bracelet (or two) when the collection rolls out to BR stores nationwide and online on August 10.

LOVE: Prada’s Print(tastic) Collection

Sometimes you have to take a look back in order to move forward, and that’s exactly what Prada did with their new “Print Collection.” The collection focuses on vintage-inspired pieces, including dresses, adorable flats and chain-strap handbags. The ’50s-inspired silhouettes aren’t the only nod to the past, the floral and mixed print fabrics came straight from the Prada archives! Ranging from silk to cotton fabrics, these prints are so fun to mix and match. My favorite? The ballet flats! They’re the perfect pop to any outfit – all year long! The collection hits Prada boutiques nationwide next week!


Editorial: Lady Barcelona

Model Erin Heatherton heads to Barcelona for a Spanish-inspired editorial for the May issue of Elle France. Captured by the lens of Derek Kattela, Heatherton poses in floaty silks, mixed prints and some outstanding statement jewelry pieces (check out that multi-strand iridescent necklace!). This editorial features not only the incredible styling by Elissa Cannelle Castelbou, but also the stunning architecture of the Spanish city.

 

H&M Summer 2010



Models Lindsay Ellingson and Skye Stracke show us the H&M way to dress for summer in the latest issue of the store’s magazine. Shot by Benjamin Huseby and styled by Jane How, this spread features plenty of summer essentials in bold prints and vibrant hues. Wishing I was at the beach at this moment. 

Now if only there were an H&M in Texas…




Runway: Chanel Resort 2011

On Tuesday, Karl Lagerfeld presented the Chanel Resort 2011 collection in the gorgeous Saint-Tropez where the models disembarked from a boat and took the runway. (By the way, the list of models in this show is just as outstanding as the collection itself. Natasha Poly opened and Georgia May closed. Need I say more?) The colorful and bohemian collection featured chiffon caftans, cropped bouclé tweed jackets, gingham blouses, and metallic shorts. Reflective of its setting, the collection was easy and carefree. In a word? Beachy. But chic. The 1970s infused this warm-weather collection (think suede bell bottoms, psychadelic-print jumpsuits and crochet dresses) and created modern Brigitte Bardot-at-the-beach looks. Saint-Tropez, here we come.

Video: Style Secrets from Jenna Lyons

Do you love J.Crew as much as I do? Well, you can credit Jenna Lyons for some of that love. The brand’s Creative Director has an incredible eye for all things fashion and has managed to completely transform  J.Crew into a go-to source for everything from classic blazers to unique jewelry pieces. Check out this great video from Lucky where Lyons provides some insight into where she shops (other than J.Crew), her own personal style, and what she would do if she didn’t have her dream job. 

Lyons was also featured last month as a guest on Oprah’s “Dream Jobs” episode. During the interview we got to see a day in the life of Lyons (starting with her closet!) where she takes us from her home in Brooklyn to the J.Crew offices. Missed the episode? Click here to view the clips. 

Traveling with Tory

I love these looks that the Tory Burch team put together as the ideal items to pack when traveling to Italy. For those of us not heading on an Italian vacation any time soon, I think they’re the perfect summer weekend ensembles – anytime, anywhere!

LOVE: Marais USA

It’s been a shoe week on Luella and June. We can’t help it. We have been finding so many adorable summer shoes! And now we have found one more pair for you. Meet MaraisUSA. After spending a summer in Paris, friends Catherine Chen and Haley Boyd returned home to New York with a brilliant line of shoes inspired by the colorful Marais District (hence the name). There’s a variety of styles to choose from including a preppy oxford lace-up and a patent leather sandal, but my personal favorite is the mini wedge espadrille sandal. These espadrilles give off a vintage vibe, and with so many colors to choose from (red, black, green or blue), you can’t go wrong! Throw them on with a pair of shorts or a summer dress and you’re ready to go.
