J. Crew Fall 2010 Preview

I know we’re excited that spring is finally here and the last thing we want to think about are the coats and sweaters we just stored far, far away in our closets, but I have to take a moment to mention J.Crew’s fabulous Fall 2010 collection. The collection, shown in a private presentation last Friday, was full of gotta-have-it-right-now looks. Jenna Lyons, J.Crew’s Creative Director, cited her inspiration as “Edie Beal goes to Girl Scout Camp” (Edie Beal is the eccentric woman behind Grey Gardens). In other words, Lyons basically reinterpreted the military look we have been seeing so much of lately and put a more feminine (this is where the “girl scout” comes into play) spin on the collection. The collection focused on some great outerwear options, including shearling vests and tweed blazers. The accessories in this collection aren’t to be missed either! Hats, necklaces, brooches and textured tights (love these) were perfect additions to the effortless looks.

Favorite look? The frilly white skirt perfectly cinched with a distressed leather belt and paired with the military jacket. What’s yours?

The Jewelry of Grace Kelly

Grace Kelly’s
iconic beauty has inspired women as well as designers in their quest for classic, timeless style. In particular, the French jewelry house, Cartier, singled Grace out to wear their designs throughout the years and became the royal family’s official supplier.

These are a few of my favorite pieces and pictures from her Sotheby’s collection.

Favorite Find: MYMU Espadrilles

It’s official. I have found the perfect spring shoe. Say hello to the MYMU espadrille. Inspired by the time she spent  in Argentina (where the espadrille is a constant closet staple), designer Gabriela Lanardonne created her own version of the classic shoe by introducing new colors – how cute is the turquoise pair! – and funky textures. The line, which debuted today on Net-a-Porter, is the ideal reinvention of the espadrille. I love how the model in the above picture is wearing them with an evening gown – perfect for a night of dancing at your next soiree. Totally comfortable and totally adorable. Like I said, the perfect spring shoe.
