Michelle Obama’s style has been compared to that of Jacqueline Kennedy’s classic 1960′s style. Her taste not as quite as flashy as Jackie’s, but who’s to say her taste is without inspiration?

Chunky jewelry was very much in, as were gold chain necklaces with colorful pendants. Other non-traditional materials were used like lucite and plexiglas which were fashioned into jewels. Designers like Kenneth Jay Lane, Lucien Piccard, Panetta, Hobe, Boucher and others portrayed this style in their designs.
Participating in the Couture Design Awards offers designers extensive exposure before, during and after Couture 2009. In 2008, Couture introduced online voting which gave all submissions extensive pre-show exposure with more than 10,000 site visits leading up to the Couture 2008 show.
